Holi creations

Although wedding season is upon us and many students have been absent the past few days, we still managed to pack the classroom and work on some exciting new watercolors for our Spring theme. It was nice to give them something non-academic where they could just use their imaginations and discover the tactile nature of the different media.

These paintings were created with watercolor, chalk pastel, and authentic gulal!

At first they were holding back from getting messy and out of control with the paint, carefully applying color in neat brush strokes. I asked them to bring the energy and feelings they have when they play holi into these paintings. The smiles and laughter slowly crept up on them and they created quite a feast for the eyes!
