About CHARM: the Children’s Art Mission
CHARM is a volunteer network of artists, educators and youth dedicated to facilitating education for young people in India, inspiring them to explore their cultural heritage and to express themselves through music, art, writing or film.
We believe that presenting young voices from the village to the world via exhibitions, publications, and workshops can uplift the lives of rising generations everywhere.
How it came into being:
I have met many extraordinary local artists and children while living in India for the past six years. Through our friendships I started teaching art and creativity workshops for youth. Gradually, I became inspired about the potential for art to have a powerful and positive impact on the lives of these children, and by extension, their communities.
I am currently working with students in Govardhan, and Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. I will be posting regular updates (with lots of photos) about our current projects. You are also invited to check out our website (but please be patient while we are working out the bugs).
